Designer duo Hemant and Nandita explored faux fur in terms of neck and shawl collars, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla accented their dupattas with it and Huemn sent out a fur collared bomber jacket for their Lakme Fashion Week outing. Sabyasachi too peppered his bridal ensembles with fur neck chokers and fur clutches. While Delhi's nippy winters are perfect to have fun with fur, Mumbai fashion junkies can only play with it in terms of accessories. Let's speak to designers on how to get the mood exotica right...
Lends luxury
Designer Nandita Raipurani of label Hemant and Nandita says, "It went so well with our theme of The Dark Enchantress. The collection was of the fall deep dark floral with a magic and charm of metallic colours. Faux Fur lends a luxury to the fall look and lends a different dimension to the look."
She adds, "Faux fur used in bags or as an accessory looks warm and cozy for the winter while increasing the style quotient of the look. Fur was everywhere on the international runways and looking at the inspiration we have had for this collection, it just fitted in together."
Adds flavour
Designer Pranav Mishra of label Huemn observes that usage of faux fur is also little socially responsible way of attending to the material. You get the feel of the fur and you also feel good that someone's life is not compromised. We've used it in bits and pieces, but not too much out there to add a bit of flavour to the collection which was inspired by '90s hip hop and rap music."
