A popular face in the television industry, Sonali Nikam is all set to make a comeback to Indian television, after a gap of two years. She will portray the character of ‘Mary’ in &TV’s upcoming show ‘Yeshu’. Previously, the versatile actor has played a variety of prominent roles. Says Sonali Nikam, “The character of ‘Mary’, Yeshu’s mother, is a significant role. She will guide and nurture her son to his life purpose. She is patient, calm, pure and selfless and is immensely protective towards her son. Often described as a gentle mother and a peaceful dove in a hymn, Mary is a brave woman who has immense faith and a strong belief in God. Throughout her life, she is seen holding on to the truth and believes in living by example. Right from her childhood till the time she becomes a mother, Mary is seen cherishing every moment and fulfilling all expectations of not only a mother but also a wife.” Sonali goes on to say, “To be chosen to portray this role is a big moment for me. It is completely different from the roles I have played till now. There are many dimensions to her character. She is a dutiful daughter to her parents, a companion and friend to her cousin, a loyal and loving wife to Joseph, a guiding force to her son Yeshu. The story of Yeshu is not only the most iconic story of good versus evil, but it also captures the beautiful relationship between Yeshu and his support and guide, his mother. This role is a reward and a big responsibility. I am eagerly looking forward to it.”
&TV presents for the first time in Hindi GEC, the untold, unheard story of 'Yeshu', produced by Arvind Babbal Productions Pvt Ltd. 'Yeshu' is a story of an exceptionally benevolent child who only wants to do good and spread happiness all around him. His love and compassion for all in stark contrast to the dark, evil forces prevalent during his birth and childhood. Witnessing the various atrocities on his family and in society has a deep impact on him. His attempt to help others and ease their pain often leads to situations where he inevitably ends up being hurt and condemned by not just the oppressors but also the people at large. But even that does not stop Yeshu from continuing his path. It is not only the most iconic story of good versus evil, but it also captures the beautiful relationship between Yeshu and his support and guide - his mother.
