Exhibiting the Navdurga avatars - the nine forms of Durga Maa, Garima Parihar, who portrays the role of ‘Devi Parvati’ will be seen enchanting the viewers this Navratri in &TV’s Santoshi Maa Sunaye Vrat Kathayein. Garima will get into the prowess and mighty forms of Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandmata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri, Garima (Devi Parvati) shares how each divine avatar highlights different potential and capability. Goddess Shailputri holds a Trishul and lotus and is said to ride Nandi (the bull), and stands for the removal of illness. Goddess Brahmacharini walks barefoot with a Rudraksh mala and a sacred Kamandalu and stands for longevity. Goddess Chandraghanta is a striking 10-armed goddess with a crescent moon on her forehead, riding a tiger, and known to destroy all wicked. Goddess Kushmanda, a force of life, possess the power to bless people with vital decision-making and intellect abilities. Goddess Skandmata is a four-armed deity seated on a lotus and carries a little Kartikey in her lap. She symbolises action, karma and practical knowledge. Goddess Katyayani, famously known as a salient warrior, rides the lion and carries a sword. She is a form of positive anger towards ignorance and injustice. Goddess Kaalratri, a divinity who embraced a dark complexion to destroy demons, rides a donkey and carries a trident and noose, and symbolises motherhood. Goddess Mahagauri rides a mighty white elephant and has a damru with a Trishul, and represents beauty and compassion. Goddess Siddhidatri defines perfection, sits on a lotus holding mace, discus and a book, and fulfils all divine aspirations. Speaking about her experience portraying these nine avatars, GarimaParihar shares, “With Navratri festivities just around the corner, what better to begin the celebrations than by performing Durga Maa’s nine different avatars! I feel honoured and blessed. I got to know so much more about her nine forms. Portraying nine characters is challenging and also an opportunity of a lifetime. Rarely one gets such a chance. I am quite thrilled and excited about it.”
