Stand out this party season in Pantone Colours of 2021

FT NEWS

The Pantone Color Institute's Ultimate Grey and Illuminating (yellow) as the colours of 2021 are already a rage. The muted albeit composed grey and the brighter, optimistic yellow together symbolise ‘strength and hopefulness'. What's more, the colours are also eye-catching, stylish, and already finding favour with the fashion industry!

Shades of grey

For this party season opt for a full grey look. One can go for different shades - like steel or charcoal. Pair your grey outfit with white sneakers for a night out. You can also add more spunk to a black outfit with a grey layer. The colour is easy to style and accessorise. A pair of grey shorts with a printed shirt looks great, but grey can look just as good when paired with a plain white tee.

Yellow mellow

One can flaunt dresses, trench coats, pants, or jackets in the shade. A perfect A-line dress in that hue will do the trick, and you can also add a denim jacket to the mix. Go for a pop of colour, while keeping all other elements subdued. Think statement accessories in Illuminating, like a watch, backpack, or even sneakers. A pair of sunglasses with a tint of Illuminating would be really cool too.

Mix 'n' match

Keep the greys for the outer layer and Illuminating for the inner layer. For example, wear a yellow tee with a grey jacket, or simply use Illuminating to bring a pop of yellow to an all-grey look. As both the shades are quite fulfilling on their own, keep the styling basic and simple. Remember, less is more when it comes to both. Don't overdo accessories. Just a good watch, basic earrings, or bracelet are enough.

Tips to stand out in shades of grey and yellow

- Ultimate Grey pairs well with black, white, ivory, tan, fuschia or even light pastel shades.

- Illuminating (yellow) works well with black and white.

- You can colour block by combining Illuminating with black or chocolate brown. Avoid pairing it with the cliched white.
