French luxury house Dior recently unveiled a feather embroidery ensemble addition from its Autumn-Winter 2021-2022 collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri and it is impressing the fashion lovers with its grand craftsmanship and couture technique.

This piece can be truly called a work of art. Dior's couture piece is embellished with thousands of feathers covering the model wearing it, from top to bottom adorning a delicate tulle fabric. The feather embroidery represents a true avant-garde fashion piece and showcases the length of hard work, focus, and imaginativeness gone into constructing this piece. Fashion pandits are calling it fashion depicted in its raw form.

The model who walked on the ramp flaunting the ensemble looked like an enchantress with the embedded veil covering her face yet her bold highlighted eyes piercing through the lens of the camera. Her sleek low ponytail and several finger-tip rings only accentuated this whole look.

The feather embellishment is courtesy, Maison Lemarie, a French designer who exquisitely specializes in feather, flowers, pleats, and couture and Metiers d’art multidisciplinary creative hub in Paris. This piece is a part of the Dior couture collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, who is also the creative director at Dior.

Madame Chiuri’s wish was to represent an undergrowth, something very, very poetic, very light, so here we have ferns, shrubs that tumble in two tones, and weeping willows. This is a special plumassier technique: they trim feathers in small pieces to create a pointillist effect. It’s very delicate, these little things. It holds as if by magic. At Lemarie, more than 40 people worked on it. You don’t have the impression that it takes a lot of time, that it’s so painstaking, so long, but that’s what craftsmanship is all about. It feels like we just threw a few feathers on this dress. When I say a few, there are thousands and thousands of them. And then you get this. And that’s the magic of haute couture.
