MANY people wonder how they can create a stylish, eco-friendly interior. An interior designer who specialises in creating eco-friendly spaces has outlined her choice of furniture, soft furnishing and decor so you can create your own eco-friendly retreats.
Known for her expertise in sustainable design, Home Design magazine editor-in-chief Kate St James won the People's Choice Award at the HIA Home Show 2016 for this space, which demonstrated a stylish environment using beautiful, hand-crafted, eco-friendly furniture that does not cost the earth.
Eco-friendly products used to create this room include 100% natural sisal carpet in biscuit (interfloors.com.au), a Factory 2 contemporary wall mural using eco paper and inks (visionwall.com.au), and walls painted in zero-VOC paint in tampico (ecolour.com.au).
Sheets and pillowcases were 100% organic lightweight linen in white, a duvet cover in organic heavyweight linen in natural, and a throw in organic linen in white (houseofbalticlinen.com.au).
Mango wood and reclaimed teak featured heavily in the room's furniture. Products included ripple bedside tables in reclaimed mango wood, a Strand four-poster bed in reclaimed teak and a Strand chest of drawers in reclaimed teak (uniqwafurniture.com.au).
The artwork was also made of natural materials and all sourced from the Signature Natural Collection (designerboyscollections.com).
