It’s that time of year again. Before you know it, your mailbox will be stuffed with holiday greetings from loved ones near and far. It’s the mail most of us look forward to receiving, as opposed to bills and advertisements.

If you’re anything like me, you want to be able to see the beautiful cards all season long. Holiday cards are a wonderful way to add to your current seasonal décor and there are plenty of ways to do so. Here’s how to display holiday cards you receive this season.

1. Decorate Your Mantel

Decorating a mantel is a classic Christmas tradition for many. It’s also a great place to display your holiday cards. Using twine or ribbon, attach it to the length of your mantel, styling it as you choose. As holiday cards begin to arrive, use paper clips or clothespins to hang them from the string. Of course, this idea works best if you don’t have your mantel over a fireplace, as it can cause a fire hazard.

If your mantel sits above a working fireplace, use the surface to display your cards. While standing them is just fine, you can add a little bit of extra décor and security. Using a pinecone, glue the card to the back. This will help the card stand as well as adding an additional decorative element.

2. Tabletop Display Holder

With the holidays being a busy time of year, you may not have as much time to DIY. Thankfully, you can easily create a beautiful Christmas card display and table centerpiece for your holiday table. Holiday card holder displays come in all shapes and sizes at your local craft store. Look for a Christmas tree or snowflake shape to really complete the look.

3. Holiday Card Tree

If you have an empty wall, it’s time to add some temporary décor.  As I mentioned before, time is limited during the holiday season. It’s likely you’ve swapped home décor DIY for gift wrapping and cookie making. But this is a DIY card display that you can do in less than an hour, likely with materials you already have. 4. Wood Display

For an idea you can use year after year to display your holiday cards, it’s a good idea to make a seasonal décor item that will last. A DIY wood card display will be a timeless piece your family will get excited about every year. Additionally, it’s an easy way to clip on your holiday cards without hassle.

5. Card Wreath

Wreaths are a great item to have in the home any time of the year, but specifically during the holidays. Take your typical wreath and make it something unique with holiday cards. Embroidery hoops are a great an affordable way to make a wreath all your own. You can let your cards hang using string and a hole punch, for a simple way to display your cards. 6. Holiday Garland For The Doorway

Doorways can often be neglected when it comes to décor, but the holidays give homeowners a great reason to add a little sparkle to their hallway. It’s also a great way to show off your holiday cards from loved ones. Securely attach the garland to the wall. I suggest a thicker garland for a look that will pop. Using paperclips or clothespins, simply clip the cards to the garland for a festive look!

7. Stairwell Décor

Similar to decorating your mantel, stairwell holiday decorating is a staple of the season. Garland and bows often adorn the railings. It’s a perfect spot to hang holiday cards from as well. Simply punch a hole in the top of the card and use a decorative string to tie between the spindles.

What To Do After The Holidays

When it’s time for the holiday décor to come down, your cards must also. But, I understand it’s hard to just toss them out, especially if they are from loved ones. A great idea is to create a yearly holiday card scrapbook. Using a few shaped templates, trace and cut out a part of the card you want to save. This could be a photo, special greeting or a fun design that reminds you of that person. Using scrapbooking glue, adhere it to the page. Repeat this year after year to have a scrapbook that’s full of holiday cheer.
