What Is the Cost of Different False Ceiling Materials?

FT NEWS

A gypsum ceiling comprises boards or panels which are available in a prefabricated, ready-to-install form. This ceiling material is popular because it produces less dust during installation and forms very few joint lines, resulting in a good finish. However, the main disadvantage of gypsum is that any kind of moisture seepage may result in fungal growth and cause irreparable damage to the ceiling.

Cost

A simple gypsum false ceiling like in this image starts at ₹75 per square foot while an elaborately designed gypsum false ceiling can go up to ₹125 per square foot.

POP ceiling

A POP false ceiling is fabricated at site by mixing powdered plaster of Paris (POP) with water. The best part about a POP false ceiling is that it can be used to create an ornamental effect, as you see in the image above. Another advantage it that it offers great flexibility in design and can be moulded into curved shapes.

Cost

The cost of POP false ceilings is ₹75–120 per square foot. POP cornices and decorative mouldings start at ₹45 per running foot.

Cost

The carpentry rates for laminate- and veneer-finish ceiling panelling range between ₹400 and ₹550 per square foot, but may vary depending on the design.
